In celebration of the World Mental Health Day- 10th October, the Goa Psychology Association planned various awareness programs across Goa promoting the topic of Dignity in Mental Health (a topic selected by the WHO). As part of this initiative, an interactive session on the said topic was organized at Grace Church, Margao on the 8th of October, in collaboration with the International Human Rights Association, Goa branch.
The session was led by Shobhika Jaju (Psychologist & member of GPA from Margao), and was attended by eminent personalities mostly from South Goa. The audience comprised of Chairman: IHRA, members of IHRA, Editor: Evescape, psychiatric social workers, & other prominent members of society.
This interactive session focused on spreading awareness about the importance of mental health in general and how to achieve a well-balanced mental state. The theme of the discussion was thoroughly discussed with the focus on how to provide a dignified life for those with mental health issues, as well as how to respect one’s own mental health. The audience was very responsive throughout the discussion and shared their experiences and ideas on promoting mental health welfare in the state.
Ms. Amita Quenim (Psychologist & Founder of GPA) attended the session and shared her viewpoints on mental health and dignity. She also spoke about the future plans of GPA and discussed opportunities for collaborating on projects with the IHRA.
